How to Install Procreate Color Palettes

June 22nd, 2020 | 0 comments

I recently started making Procreate color palettes for my shop and thought it would be a great idea to make a mini-tutorial. Let’s have a look at how to install Procreate palettes that you’ve purchased or by using the FREE color palette that comes with this tutorial.

What you need

Before we get started you will need the Procreate app (only available on the App Store), which is $9.99 to buy if you don’t already have it.

APP STORE – iOS DEVICES

You will also need to have a color palette in .swatches format. Other formats for Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop won’t work!

This tutorial is done using the latest version of Procreate (Version 5.0.7) & iOS (Version )

If you haven’t yet, you can download your free color palette form the Freebie Library or buy one of my color palettes here.

Instructions

Depending on your Ipad and Procreate versions, you can automatically have your color palette install. All you have to do is simply tap on the palette (.swatches) file and it will automatically open with Procreate and import it.

Safari
– Once you have downloaded the palette you will see the download icon in Safari in the top-right corner.
– Tap on the icon to view your download.
– Tap on the .swatches file.
– You will see an (imported) message from Procreate.

Files
– If you have downloaded your palette into your files head on over to where you saved it.
– Tap on the .swatches file.
– You will see an (imported) message from Procreate.

If automatic importing isn’t working:

– Go to the file where you save the color palette.
– Tap on (Select) at the top right corner.
– Select the .swatches file.
– Tap on (Share).
– Swipe until you see the Procreate Icon “Open in Procreate”
– You will see an (imported) message from Procreate.

Signup to the Freebie Library to get the Palette

And that’s it! Now you know how to install custom Procreate Palettes.
